Kepala Desa Gili Indah, H. Taufik mengatakan para pedagang berjualan seenaknya hingga membanjiri sampai ke jalan. Hal ini dianggap menggangu dan terkesan semerawut sehingga menimbulkan image pariwisata yang kurang bagus.
Jika diatur dan dibatasi agak tidak mungkin sebab Gili Trawangan seolah menjadi magnet mata pencaharian dari seluruh warga di Lombok. Terlebih jalan yang sudah sempit ditambah para pedagang yang stand by di sana justru membuat wisatawan yang berlalu lalang terganggu. Seharusnya dari pihak pemerintah yang harus bertindak jangan semua dari pihak desa.
Sementara itu, Sekertaris Diskoperindag KLU Dende Dewi mengatakan para pedagang kaki lima di Gili Trawangan memang ada wacana untuk ditata. Namun jika sekarang mau ditata tapi lahannya tidak ada. Mereka tentu akan memilih dilokasi yang ramai. Tapi jika dibiarkan terus seperti ini dikhawatirkan jumlahnya justru membludak di jalanan.
Perihal penertiban sendiri pihaknya tak ingin gegabah. Pasalnya dinas tak mempersoalkan selama belum ada keluhan dari kalangan wisatawan dan masyarakat yang dianggap serius. Fokus yang akan diterapkan justru mengenai pola edukasi ke pedagang.
